CANON REFERENCE: n/a
CANON POINT: Being thrown off the cliff by the Gatekeeper.
CRAU HISTORY: n/a
AGE: 27
APPEARANCE: Sen is a man who stands at a height of 5' 9" while being extremely light for his size. His white hair is slightly long that he ties back into a low ponytail, which is what his hair braids into from the side of his head with a golden hair accessory that keeps it in place similar to a big hair clip. It's oval-shaped, gold, and has a tiger engraved into it. Apart from his face, his skin is barely seen due to how big his clothes are. His clothes are similar to eastern Asian clothes back when there were dynasties and such. It's clothing similar to this, except the sleeves are big to the point that cover his hands and the hems of the pants almost touch the ground.
CONTRACT PAYMENT: Finding his "paradise".
QUESTIONNAIRE:
How do you react to betrayal? How severe must a betrayal be for you to consider it such?
Given that Sen has trust issues to begin with, a betrayal would cut deeply into him and he would most likely carry the grudge with him for the rest of his life... depending on who does it. At the same time, he knows that betrayal for one's selfish needs and goals is something that is normalized for everyone when in a pinch, so if it was a person who he wasn't close to on a personal level, Sen would merely brush it off. He would just curse his bad luck in a not very meaningful way and move on. Despite having such a peppy and friendly persona in front of most people with a side of teasing and amusement, Sen is awfully jaded when it comes to the issue of trusting others with his vulnerability, so it's very difficult for him to lower the walls that he sets around himself.
That's why the betrayal must be awfully personal for Sen to actually consider it as such. Sen doesn't have any friends to begin with, much less trusting a person enough to feel absolutely safe with them. A close friend would undoubtedly be someone very important to Sen. If they betrayed him, Sen would probably curse them until they die and he's awfully stubborn in changing his mind about things, including perceptions of other people.
Your Faction leader, not just your boss but the leader, has asked you to carry out a hit. The target is a non-affiliated public leader, well-liked by the people of the city. Do you carry it out? Why or why not?
First, why would they choose him to carry out a hit unless they want him gone--is what he thinks. He would take on the order anyway, despite being a rather weak person who has a hard time even walking around for fifteen minutes without feeling tired. Surely, the faction leader must have known that, and that they wouldn't mind that he try to seduce the target in an attempt to assassinate him, right? It's just mind-boggling for Sen that he would be chosen for this, even when it seems so important. Alas, he assumes the faction leader would know of Sen's not very strong capabilities, or he'd just think they're stupid. Though, Sen mostly agrees on carrying the hit because he needs to do things for the clan so that he can get his contract fulfilled. He doesn't care about the politician, whether he's well-liked or not, but he does get curious on the politics of how things run around the place.
An oni of the Shuten Clan has gone completely berserk, and is going on a violent rampage through the city. You can't stop him, but you CAN lead him elsewhere, but you only have two choices: a road by a discotheque with a large crowd in front, or the nearby park that you do not know is unoccupied, and may have children present. What do you choose, and why?
Sen sure as hell can't stop him because of how weak he is anyway, so he'd be the bait to lure the berserking oni to the road by a discotheque with a large crowd in the front. Chances are, there are probably strong people there who could actually take on the oni themselves, because he thinks some people just have a penchant for justice and/or fighting while he continues to flee the scene. It really isn't about the morals whether he could choose to have adults or children die--it's more the factors that are more convenient to him. Sen dislikes people in general regardless of their age, and his mindset is built on selfish survival ideals. He would gladly throw someone under the bus so that he could live, because that vastly wins over any curiosity he might have of other people despite not liking them, because he likes learning more about the world around him.
You've worked with your Faction awhile now and you feel like the reward of your contract is within reach. But at the last moment, you are told you have even more service to pay beforehand ... Do you go to your leader? Do you argue the dispute yourself? Do you begrudgingly accept the additional work? Something else?
Sen would be absolutely annoyed and angry, but after calming himself down, he would go and argue the dispute himself and if that doesn't work, he'd go to the Faction Leader to discuss it directly. To Sen's understanding, he wouldn't mind as much if they wanted to hold him back a little longer for him to do things that only he could do, but if it's just for the sake of making him angry or some case of power tripping, he'd stew in his anger a little longer, actually. He knows he can't do anything about it if his dispute is rejected and would begrudgingly continue to work, but he'd definitely have some words to say, like how people who use loopholes in contracts shouldn't be leading anyone by example. Why should the faction trust their leader if this is a regular occurrence? ... something like that.
POWERS & ABILITIES: Sen has no powers whatsoever and thinks he's bad at everything except sex. He can't cook, read, write, do math, and sometimes his facade of stupidity isn't really a facade. He can only count up to ten, because he has ten fingers.
However, he was given a magical tool that looks like a smaller than average temari ball that allows him to overcome the language barrier and communicate with anyone verbally. When opened, it sprouts ghost-like arms with a hand that can stretch up to 50 feet long that Sen can control, as long as he's around the vicinity of the ball (20 feet). It can also change into rope-like things instead of being some ghostly limb. Sen mostly uses it mundane things, like grabbing something that's out of his reach.
Sen has no powers nor magic, but he was deeply affected by a curse that him forcibly depend on others. It was forced on him by the wife of a man that Sen's mother had slept with in the brothel as an act of vengeance against Sen's mother. It's too bad that she didn't care about him. Anyway, the curse acts like this: it strips his independence away by immobilizing his body when Sen tries to go against it. However, it only works when someone in the vicinity wants Sen to be dependent on them. If Sen wants to cook and someone else wants to cook for him, he's suddenly unable to cook or even try. If Sen wants to walk, but someone wants to carry Sen, he suddenly can't walk. It negatively impacted his life by rendering him unable to do most things by himself--not to mention if someone was aware of Sen's dependency curse, they would take advantage of it.
SUITABILITY: Sen has been living inside a brothel for most of his life, which has exposed him to the concept of sex work, shady dealings, and abusive clients ever since he was young. He started working in that industry himself when he was suitable. After he was taken in as the king's concubine, Sen was the target of multiple assassination attempts, usually secretly done by the queen at the time out of jealousy because while the queen loved the king, the king doesn't return it (it was a political marriage) and his attention is usually hogged by Sen. Sen is quite jaded and was also stuck with a curse that forced him to be in situations that made him dependent on others. It's a tiring life sometimes. Because of this curse, he's learned that people can be quite nefarious with it to try and take advantage of him, so he's dealt with that throughout his life. Therefore, I think he'll see Jigokucho's setting as something he's not very surprised by, and more along the lines of something he's very used to. Night life, man.
FACTION SUITABILITY:
Shuten: Sen is extremely physically weak and lies as he breathes. His friendly and peppy face that he puts on most of the time is already a facade that gets people to lower their guards around him. However, if you tell him to carry something that's equal to ten pounds and go up the stairs at the same time, he'll collapse at the top. Sen is dishonest about his true intentions most of the time, and especially for things like business/deals, so he'd probably be punished by yubitsume until he has no fingers left. Sen thinks "might makes right" is correct in a sense that if you forcibly subdue everyone, no one can tell you that you're wrong. Sen hates that line of thinking, because it means he can't do anything. If he can't use words as his fighting chance, he might as well be useless. Honestly, if Sen got into Shuten, he'd just spend all his time ogling at the muscular men there, and if he had to do physical tasks very often, he would probably be miserable. Sen would seem to be the person who'd love to party, but he doesn't like being around people already and he's an absolute lightweight. When he's not being cheery, his actual personality is quite pessimistic, which would probably go against the tight-knit brotherhood/family group the Shuten clan has created.
Tamamo: Despite seemingly to be "no thoughts, head empty" based on the cheery ditz persona he shows everyone, Sen uses his words to get himself out of trouble or sway others to do things for him. He believes that other than his looks, words are the only weapon he can use against others. He's also right at home with sex work and wouldn't be put off by it--he might even try to work in that business, because he thinks that's the only thing he's good at. One of the major turning points in Sen's life is how he's picky with freedom--he's willing to be captive if it'll keep him safe (for some time). He hates the dependency curse and wishes that he could do things on his own--freedom is absolutely important to him as he's usually a guy who does things at his own pace too. Despite being cagey, Sen tends to drop information like it's nothing, and it's part of his personality instead of a facade. He may seem like a weird ditz on the outside, but he's still a stupid weirdo on the inside too. Freedom to do whatever he wants is the most appealing aspect for him, and he'd probably jive with Tamamo clan pretty well.
Sutoku: Sen agrees with how having connections and information are very valuable things to have. He's not very smart, but when it comes to knowing things and using them against people, he's familiar with the process and keeps a good poker face throughout it all. However, Sen doesn't know how to perform most math--he only knows how to count up to the number of fingers on his hands and tells time depending on where the sun is in the sky. Moreover, he also can't read... doing financial tasks would be extremely difficult for him. He also doesn't really mesh well with religion, because he believes that it restricts him, denying him the freedom that he enjoys for some god that he's never met. He's met a higher being in-person before, but he doubts that they're a god of some sort. Asceticism is also the exact opposite of what Sen is, so he wouldn't take too kindly of being told what to do regarding his personal lifestyle.
Enma: Given all I said about Sen's very important aspect of freedom in the Tamamo section, strict law and order would go against that very thing. He thinks it won't be the case in Jigoku-cho, but he's had bad experiences with prostitution and brothels being outlawed and regularly shunned by others who think they're all correct that he has a negative outlook on the law and its enforcers. Sen believes justice and order has never done anything for him and anything that involves the government gets an instant reaction from him like a bristling, hissy cat that is absolutely peeved and angry. Sen only follows and uses the law when convenient, but otherwise, likes to do whatever he wants, regardless how he knows that law and order must be upheld to an extent. His mindset is very "if it doesn't bother me, I won't bother it back" when it comes to things like this.
